Regarding sustainable fashion, one of the best ways to keep your footprint low is to purchase pre-loved items. Sometimes, this means perusing racks at a thrift shop, organizing clothing swaps with friends, upcycling clothing on your own, or browsing through an online consignment shop.
The popularity of online luxury consignment has only risen in response to fast fashion and cheaply made garments. While not always the case, sometimes the higher price tags also mean higher quality materials and care, creating clothing (or accessories!) that will last you a lifetime.
For our Not so Fast Fashion Week campaign, we highlighted seven of our favorite online luxury retailers combining fashion with sustainability.
Sororité Vintage
With its inventory presented in thematically curated, bimonthly drops, Sororité Vintage's collection is every fashion enthusiast's dream. Not only does Sororité offer clothes, shoes, and accessories from the hottest designer vintage like Burberry or Dior, but the retailer also has a private archive open to celebrity stylists for photoshoots, red carpet events, and more.
Treasures of NYC
Best known for its iconic leopard-print couch and pink-letter pillows, you've likely seen the interior of Treasures of NYCon your favorite influencer's Instagram feed. The company, located in the Big Apple and sells apparel, accessories, clothing, and even furniture, boasts of being "the official 'vintage-dealers' of authentic designer vintage."
Studded Petals Vintage
Studded Petals Vintage owner Millie Adams is a sourcing icon. Studded Petals constantly goes viral on social media platforms like X for its unique pieces and Millie's keen eye. It's no secret that more than one celebrity has pulled pieces from Studded Petals' collection, and we know that once you see the inventory, you'll want to as well.
What Goes Around Comes Around
As stated in its mission, What Goes Around Comes Around has made sustainability a goal. "We believe that luxury craftsmanship and premier vintage should be revered, preserved, and adored for years to come," What Goes Around's website reads, encouraging customers to shop its expansive stock of clothing, handbags, accessories, and jewelry.
James Veloria
James Veloria's colorful website further indicates its unique collection of luxury vintage. The company has two physical clothing store locations in New York and Los Angeles, but a quick peruse through its website will tell shoppers they don't need to go in person to snag coveted brands like Vivienne Westwood or Miu Miu.
Deux Birds
Deux Birds' mission to "revive pieces from the past" pairs some of your favorite luxury vintage pieces with slow fashion and sustainability. Purchases are shipped with "global carbon-neutral shipping" and in biodegradable packaging. The collection features clothing and accessories from brands such as Ralph Lauren, Dior, and more.
Allison's Archive
Whether you're making an in-person appointment in Brooklyn or shopping online, Allison's Archive boasts a colorful collection of rare luxury vintage pieces. Treat yourself to Blumarine, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, and many more name-brand stylings sure to impress at your next fashion show or dinner soirée.
