What is October Theory?

In short, October Theory is the belief that October brings a chance to set resolutions for the year. But instead of focusing solely on the future to accomplish their plans, many folks also use this time to reflect on everything they've already done.

But October Theory is so much more than that, according to the TikTokers who swear by using the fourth quarter of the year to make big changes.

For @emilieleyes.hypnosis, those big October ideas start popping up thanks to the approach of the end of the year and the list of things we may have left undone on our to-do list from January.

Not only does that final countdown to the end of the year make us start thinking about what we still need to do, but Emilie also says that there's something about the actual changing of the seasons that helps people embrace the fall as the perfect time for a fresh start.

For @chloevanberkel, October Theory is all about trying to take advantage of the hustle and bustle of the holiday season to try and change your own situation. She says this is especially true for those hoping to start or grow their romantic relationships since many people will be looking to settle down for the winter so that they have a special someone to spend the holidays with.

How to take advantage of October Theory and change your life:

When it comes to making the most out of your October, social media users like @empoweredachievers suggest being very intentional about your plans. First up, Chris suggests remembering that October is not January, and therefore your October goals shouldn't feel like New Year's resolutions and they definitely shouldn't require months of work to accomplish.

Instead, she says you should ask yourself what you want to change now when setting these goals.

The other thing Chris says people should be mindful of is time, as in how much of it you have and how you're willing to use it.

Trying to get too much done or trying to make too many big changes all at once can cause people to burn out and give up on their goals. Instead, Chris says you should focus on the things that are most important to you and then figure out what small changes you can make every day to help make it happen.

Another trick to ensuring your October Theory plans are a success? According to @geminitarotmagick, you need to let go of any negativity or bad feelings and release the energy that's no longer serving you so that you can give the good things in the space they need to enter your life.

Whether that means letting go of old grudges, forgiving someone, or simply no longer using your energy for negativity will be different from person to person, but @geminitarotmagick says it's all about letting go.

Of course, many influencers touting the benefits of October Theory have added a little disclaimer to their posts and asked their followers to remember that it's never too late to make the changes you want to see in your life.

So, if you want to make a big change or follow your dreams, you don't need to wait for a specific date to begin because any day can be a good day for starting fresh.
